Austin Wells had 2 base hits at West Side Park where the Vernon Hillbillies
beat the Chicago Whales 7 to 5.
Vernon won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning when they
tallied 6 runs on 4 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Michael
Toglia who deflated the crowd as he clubbed a three-run home run. Both teams
totaled 9 hits on the night.
The victory was credited to Dane Dunning(3-2) who went 2 innings, allowing no
runs. Dunning was helped out by Emmanuel Clase who recorded his 8th save.
Michael Tonkin(2-1) was hit with the loss in relief.
