First baseman Luke Raley hit for the cycle and scored 3 times and Derek Law
came through with a solid 3 and two third innings at West Side Park where the
Chicago Whales beat the Vernon Hillbillies by the score of 5 to 1.
Raley had a big evening at the plate. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in
the 2nd inning, tripled in the 4th inning, singled in the 6th inning and
doubled in the 8th inning. Mitch Spence(3-5) got help from Law who pitched a
perfect ninth and was credited with his 5th save.
Spencer Arrighetti(5-5) was given the loss. He gave up 7 hits and 2 walks in
6 innings.
