Sandy Alcantara racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts at Kauffman
Stadium where the spectacular Hollywood Marines beat the Palatine Cubs by the
score of 6 to 1.
Alcantara(16-9) was in control of the game from the outset. He allowed just 5
hits and 1 walk in 8 and 1/3 innings. Palatine was out-hit by Hollywood, 11
hits to 5.
Mackenzie Gore(6-5) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around pretty
good, giving up 6 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings. Alcantara didn't realize how
many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 10 he was obviously
surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't
think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'
