Travis Jankowski had 2 base hits at Leones Field as the mighty Caracas Leones
won a thriller over the hopeless Burbank Tigers in, 3 to 2.
Caracas won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Will Smith
ripped a base-hit. Edouard Julien dug into the batters box next, but he
struck out. Manny Machado then ripped a one-base hit. Nolan Jones stepped
in and he drew a walk to load the bases. Jankowski stepped into the box and
laced a single making Caracas the winners and sending the 53,194 fans home
happy. Both teams ended up with 7 hits on the night.
Smith(1-0) allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory.
Emmet Sheehan(3-6) suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 4 hits
in 2 and 1/3 innings.
