Justin Verlander had a strong outing as the Vernon Hillbillies topped the
Columbus Crowd by a score of 2 to 1 at Long Grove CG.
Columbus fell behind quickly as the Vernon offense came through in the first
inning plating one baserunner utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was
recorded, Ozzie Albies smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'. Neither team managed
to score after the 4th inning.
Verlander(13-1) was the winner allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Ryan Brasier
preserved the game for Verlander, recording his his 4th save. Justin
Steele(7-9) was given the loss.
