William Contreras had 4 hits and 2 RBI and Braxton Garrett came through with a
solid 5 and two third innings as the sizzling Tampico Stogies topped the
Aarlington Aardvarks in 11 innings by a score of 5 to 4 at Busch
Stadium.
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Finally, Tampico prevailed in
the 11th inning. Ketel Marte jump-started the rally as he doubled which
scored a run. Matthew Batten next to the plate and he slapped a base-hit.
Batten took second on a stolen base. After an out was recorded, Josh Naylor
came to bat and was walked intentionally to load the bases. After another
out, Contreras came to the plate and doubled resulting in an exciting win for
Tampico and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Tampico had
15 hits for the game and Aarlington had 4.
Griffin Canning(3-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and
allowing no runs. Gabe Speier(2-2) was given the loss in relief.
Tampico added another win to their mounting winning streak.
