The Caracas Leones bested the Palatine Cubs by a 8 to 4 score at Kauffman
Stadium.
Caracas claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring 3 runs utilizing 3
base hits. Bryce Harper kicked off the action when he doubled. Edouard
Julien followed and he hit a single. Nolan Jones dug into the batters box
next, but he struck out. Will Smith stepped in and he drew a walk to load
the bases. James Outman stepped into the box and lined a single driving home
two runs. Kodai Senga then let loose a wild pitch scoring the final run of
the inning. Caracas dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different
innings.
The victory was credited to Anthony Desclafani(7-0) who went 6 and 1/3
innings, allowing 4 runs. Smith got the save, his 4th. The losing pitcher
was Senga(7-6). He got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3
innings.
