In a thriller the Jamaica Smoke staged a dramatic comeback over the Gotham
Gold Gloves winning by a score of 4 to 3 at Lawton Stadium.
Jamaica had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs utilizing 3 base
hits. Bryan Reynolds led off and he laced a base-hit. Salvador Perez came
to the plate and slapped a one-base hit. Perez took second on the throw.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr then hit a deep fly knocking in a run. Bo Bichette
followed and he laced a base-knock. After another out, A balk was called
giving Jamaica the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Jamaica
out-hit Gotham for the game, 13 hits to 8.
Luis Medina(3-4) allowed no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Sean Manaea(4-3) was given the loss in relief. He allowed 2 hits
and no walks in 1 inning.
'Now that is what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like
this, of course,' Greg Edens offered. 'Everyone at the stadium had a great
time - did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'
