31,848 fans were treated to a fine game at Busch Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Tampico Stogies won by the
slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
The score was tied at 4 after nine. Finally, Tampico prevailed in the 10th
inning. After two were out Gabriel Arias ripped a one-base hit making
Tampico victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. It was roller
coaster of a game as the lead change hands 5 times.
Felix Bautista(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and
allowing 1 run. Pete Fairbanks(5-4) absorbed the loss in relief. He was a
hard-luck loser, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and not allowing an earned run.
