separated the combatants at game's end. The Vernon Hillbillies registered 6
runs in the 4th inning and won by the slimmest of margins, 9 to 8.
Both teams were tied at 7 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Vernon
pulled the game out in the 10th inning. Esteury Ruiz was the sparkplug when
he lined a one-base hit. Ruiz got a good lead and stole second. After an
out was recorded, Ozzie Albies then stroked a single bringing in two
baserunners. Albies took second on the throw. Hollywood had 14 hits in the
game while Vernon had 10, but Vernon had the more timely hits.
Tanner Scott(4-2) allowed 1 run in 1 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. The losing pitcher was Jojo Romero(0-1) in relief. He pitched 1 and
1/3 innings and surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk.
