The Streator Reds and the Woodfield Roadkyll locked up in an exciting one-run
game at Englefield Green. The final score was the Streator Reds 4, the
Woodfield Roadkyll 3.
Streator erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 8th inning
plating 3 runs on 3 base hits. Enrique Hernandez led off and started the
rally when he stroked a one-base hit. Isaac Paredes dug into the batters box
next, but he struck out. Spencer Torkelson then smacked a single.
Christopher Morel was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.
Willson Contreras stepped into the box and drew a walk to load the bases.
Spencer Steer extended the rally and slapped a base-hit bringing in two
baserunners. Javier Baez stepped up next and he reached on an error scoring
the final run of the inning. Woodfield threatened in the 9th but their rally
came up short.
Jordan Hicks(1-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. Hicks got help from Bryan Abreu who was credited with his 4th save.
Andrew Wantz(1-1) ended up with the loss in relief.
Wth the win Streator now has a record of 13-29. Woodfield has a record of
23-19 after the loss.
