11,818 fans were treated to a fine game at Englefield Green as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Hollywood Marines won by the
slimmest of margins, 9 to 8.
Hollywood scored 3 runs in the decisive 5th inning when they came up with 3
base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Bryson Stott who deflated the
crowd as he banged out a single bringing in two baserunners. Woodfield had a
chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Jesse Chavez(1-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 and 1/3 innings. Will Vest
preserved the game for Chavez, recording his his 4th save. Spencer
Strider(1-5) was given the loss. He allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 2/3
innings.
Mike Gahalla was in a sour mood after the game. 'Even you guys up in the
press box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
