Christopher Morel slammed a homerun and had 7 RBI as the Streator Reds
defeated the Dallas Gibsons in 10 innings by the score of 13 to 12 at
Streator Park.
The score was tied at 11 after nine. Streator came out on top in the 10th
inning. Enrique Hernandez kicked off the action when he laced a single.
Hernandez was running on the next pitch and he stole second. Isaac Paredes
then drew a walk. Spencer Torkelson stepped in and he drew a walk to load
the bases. Morel came to the plate and doubled giving Streator the win and
sending the home town fans into a frenzy. The game was a wild affair with
the lead changing hands 6 times.
Matt Brash(2-2) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 1 and 1/3 innings.
Ian Gibaut(0-2) was the loser in relief. 'Morel led the way - we just jumped
on his back and let him take us,' Brash said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face
him. I'm glad he's on my team.'
