Rene Pinto smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Chicago Whales staged a
dramatic comeback over the Jamaica Smoke by a score of 9 to 7 at West Side
Park.
Chicago had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3
runs. Kyle Tucker led off and he drew a walk. George Springer stepped into
the batter's box and he drew a walk. Matt Chapman followed, but he was set
down on strikes. Alfonso Rivas got his chance to keep things going, but he
went down on strikes. Pinto came to the plate and rifled a three-run blast
making Chicago victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. The
game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 6 times.
The victory went to Mike Baumann(1-0) who went 2 innings, allowing 1 run.
Craig Kimbrel(0-1) was given the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning
allowing 1 hit and 1 walk.
