In a good matchup it was the Chicago Whales 8, the Palatine Cubs 6 in 11
innings at Kauffman Stadium.
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Chicago
pulled the game out in the 11th inning. The highlight belonged to Ryan
Jeffers who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he tripled which was
good for two runs. Chicago had 15 hits overall, while Palatine had 9.
The win went to Pete Fairbanks(2-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.
Brusdar Graterol(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief. The Chicago
ballclub's record now stands at 10-7. Palatine has a record of 6-11 after
the loss.
