Kodai Senga struck out 13 batters as the Palatine Cubs defeated the Chicago
Whales by a score of 4 to 3 at Kauffman Stadium.
Senga(1-3) pitched well for Palatine in their victory. He allowed 7 hits and
3 walks in 8 innings reducing his ERA from 4.50 to 3.90. Chicago tried
unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Brusdar Graterol earned the save, his 2nd. Emilio Pagan(2-1) was the losing
pitcher in relief. The Palatine fans were thrilled by the performance put
forth by Senga, but it was clearly his strikeouts that they enjoyed most.
'When he reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him their appreciation with a
loud cheer.' Tony Calabrese said following the game.
