Gerrit Cole went 7 strong innings as the Vernon Hillbillies bested the
Dyersville Jurassics 5 to 1 at Long Grove CG.
Vernon took the lead for good in the 2nd inning when they scored 2 runs on 5
hits. That early run support was all that Cole(3-1) required. Tyler Holton
was perfect in relief and got the save, his 3rd.
Marcus Stroman(0-2) ended up with the loss. He allowed 7 hits and 1 walk in 6
innings. Wth the win Vernon now has a record of 9-5. Dyersville has a
record of 6-8 after the loss.
