9,495 fans were treated to a fine game at West Side Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Burbank Tigers finally stopped
their 7 slide with the victory and won by the slimmest of margins, 2 to
1.
Burbank scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning plating 2 runs. Owen
Miller led off and keyed the rally when he was hit by a pitch. D.J. Lemahieu
stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Lourdes Gurriel then drew a walk
to load the bases. Trea Turner stepped in and he stroked a base-hit
resulting in a run. Ryan Mountcastle got his chance to keep things going,
but he went down on strikes. One out later, Jarred Kelenic came to bat and
drew a walk scoring the final run of the inning. The teams had been locked
in a scoreless duel until the 8th inning.
The winning pitcher was Dakota Hudson(4-8) who allowed no runs in 3 innings.
Taylor Clarke gained credit for his 3rd save. Griffin Jax(5-4) suffered the
loss in relief.
'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully
grim,' noted Wes Davies. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together
and turn things around!'
