Third baseman Matt Chapman blasted a grand slam at Streator Park as the
Chicago Whales, running on all cylinders, ripped the Streator Reds by a large
11 to 1 margin.
Chapman was really in 'the zone'. He doubled which was good for two runs in
the 1st inning, caught a hold of a bad pitch for a Grand Slam homerun in the
4th inning and ripped a base-hit in the 8th inning. Chicago had 15 hits for
the game and Streator had 7.
The victory was credited to Diego Castillo(2-1) who went 2 innings, allowing
no runs. The loss was charged to Ian Anderson(1-3). He allowed 6 runs and 4
hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Chapman said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and
not do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by
game, and pitch by pitch.'
