One run was the difference at West Side Park as the Chicago Whales tallied 6
runs in the 6th inning and defeated the Vernon Hillbillies 7 to 6.
Obviously without his best stuff, German Marquez(13-5) still hung on to pick
up the win. He gave up 8 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings and surrendered 3
homeruns. Vernon threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Marquez was helped out by J.P. Feyereisen who recorded his 1st save. Vince
Velasquez(2-3) was charged with the loss in relief.
When questioned about the loss, John Stryker said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there tonight. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done this
time. Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the smiles.'
