Designated hitter Jorge Soler slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Chicago
Whales won in dramatic fashion over the Gotham Gold Gloves by a score of 5 to
4 at West Side Park.
Chicago had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Stuart Fairchild
started the rally when he hit a single. Soler was next and he lifted one out
of the park for a two run home run. Kyle Tucker got his chance to keep
things going, but he went down on strikes. Jose Abreu followed and he
smashed a solo-shot out of the park giving Chicago the win much to the
delight of the home town crowd. Chicago had a total of 9 hits for the game.
Kendall Graveman(2-0) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory.
Yusei Kikuchi(2-6) took the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 runs and 3 hits
in 2/3 of an inning.
'Now that is what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like
this, of course,' Rich Domovic offered. 'Everyone at the stadium had a great
time - did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'
