Corbin Burnes mowed down 10 Hollywood batters and second baseman Kevin Newman
had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Comerica Park as the New York The Yanks beat the
Hollywood Marines in 10 innings 5 to 3.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, New York
prevailed in the 10th inning. Jon Berti was the sparkplug when he banged out
a single bringing in a run. Berti stole second with some aggressive base
running. After an out was recorded, Jace Peterson then drew a walk. One out
later, Newman came to bat and delivered a one-base hit scoring the final run
of the inning. Overall New York out-hit Hollywood 9 to 5.
Erasmo Ramirez(3-1) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Matt
Bush got the save, his 1st. The losing pitcher was Cionel Perez(2-1) in
relief.
