Jose Abreu had 3 base hits as the Chicago Whales defeated the Tampico Stogies
by the score of 3 to 2 at Busch Stadium.
The game started off with Chicago taking the lead in the first plating 2 runs.
Abreu started the inning off right when he drew a walk. After an out was
recorded, Lars Nootbaar came up and he drew a walk. George Springer then
tripled bringing in two baserunners. Tampico tried unsuccessfully to come
back in the 9th.
Adam Wainwright(9-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and
allowing 1 run. Wainwright got help from Dylan Floro who was credited with
his 2nd save. Johan Oviedo(1-2) ended up with the loss. He allowed 3 hits
and 5 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Mike Aldrich
said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have
to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'
