In a one-sided affiar at Long Grove CG the final score was the Vernon
Hillbillies 12, the Holland Heffalumps 6.
It was a good day for Vernon thanks to Austin Hays. He tripled which was good
for two runs in the 2nd inning, laced a one-base hit in the 4th inning and
lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 5th inning. The
Vernon offense poured it on, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.
Gerrit Cole(7-10) allowed 6 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Kyle Freeland(2-7) suffered the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 8
hits and 5 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
