Shortstop Jeremy Pena hit 2 doubles and had 5 RBI at Long Grove CG where the
Vernon Hillbillies beat the Dyersville Jurassics by the score of 9 to
7.
Pena helped send the fans home happy. He doubled resulting in a run in the
2nd inning, banged out a single plating a run in the 5th inning and doubled
clearing the bases in the 6th inning. Dyersville tried unsuccessfully to
come back in the 9th.
The win went to Collin McHugh(5-4) who allowed 1 run in 1 and 1/3 innings.
Emmanuel Clase got the save, his 7th. Charlie Morton(1-5) was given the
loss. He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Jim Aldrich
said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have
to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'
