Christian Walker rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at RingCentral Coliseum as
the Oakland Athletics staged a comeback win over the Dyersville Jurassics by
the count of 7 to 6.
Oakland erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs.
Myles Straw started the inning off right when he drew a walk. After an out
was recorded, Oswaldo Cabrera stepped in and he drew a walk. Rob Refsnyder
then was hit by a pitch. Oscar Gonzalez followed and he smacked a single
driving in a run. After another out, Seby Zavala came up and he drew a walk
giving Oakland the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. A wild
and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.
The victory went to Tyler Gilbert(1-1) who went 2 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Daniel Bard(1-1) was the loser in relief. He allowed 1 hit and 3 walks
in 2/3 of an inning.
'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Walker noted. 'It was
looking pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it
really paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there
at the end!'
