J.D. Martinez slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI at RingCentral Coliseum as the
Tombstone Huckleberries beat the Oakland Athletics 6 to 4.
Tombstone took the lead off Martin Perez in the first inning plating 3 runs on
3 hits. After an out was recorded, Evan Longoria began the rally when he
drew a walk. Martinez came next and he cracked a two-run shot. Yordan
Alvarez then lined a one-base hit. Jose Miranda was up next and he reached
on an error. Mitch Garver came to the plate and stroked a single, and an
error was also committed, scoring the final run of the inning. Oakland was
out-hit by Tombstone, 12 hits to 9.
Cal Quantrill(5-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 4 runs. Quantrill got help from Alexis Diaz who earned his 11th
save. Perez(2-1) was hit with the loss. He was unable to control the
Tombstone offense and allowed 11 hits and 4 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
