Left fielder Christian Yelich hit for the cycle and had 7 RBI and Tyler Mahle
had an impressive outing at The Horseshoe as the Columbus Crowd embarrassed
the Tampico Stogies by the lopsided score of 21 to 3.
Yelich was really 'in the zone'. He smacked a three-run homer in the 2nd
inning, doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 5th inning, tripled which
was good for two runs in the 6th inning and laced a base-hit in the 7th
inning. Columbus kept the scorekeepers busy in the 5th inning which saw them
score 5 runs on 5 hits and the 6th inning with 6 runs on 6 hits. Columbus
dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.
The victory was credited to Mahle(1-0) who went 6 innings, allowing no runs.
The loss was charged to Kyle Bradish(0-3). He served up 4 homeruns in his 3
and 2/3 innings.
'I had good swings tonight,' Yelich said, 'Everything felt right'.
