One run was the difference at Comerica Park as the Hollywood Marines defeated
the Vernon Hillbillies 7 to 6.
Hollywood had 5 runs cross the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning when they
had 5 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Austin Riley who
brought the crowd to their feet when he ripped a one-base hit bringing home
two baserunners. Vernon tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Frankie Montas(3-0) got the win allowing 5 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings. Rafael
Montero was credited with his 4th save. Adam Wainwright(1-3) suffered the
loss. He was knocked around by Hollywood, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 4
and 2/3 innings.
When questioned about the loss, John Stryker said, 'The fans got to see an
exciting game out there tonight. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done this
time. Next time, though, we'll be the clubhouse with all the smiles.'
