In a lop-sided win the Chicago Whales ripped the Columbus Crowd by a 6 to 1
count.
Chicago jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating 3 runs using
3 hits. Sean Bouchard led off and he drew a walk. Jose Abreu followed next
and he doubled bringing in a run. George Springer then laced a one-base hit
bringing in another run. Springer took second on the throw. Kyle Tucker dug
into the batters box next, but he struck out. Matt Chapman came up to bat
and ripped a single scoring the final run of the inning. The early run
support proved sufficient for Luis Cessa(1-0) and Chicago. That was all the
run support Cessa required. Chicago had 9 hits for the game and Columbus had
5.
The loss was charged to Brandon Woodruff(0-2). He gave up 7 hits and 2 walks
in 7 innings.
