Martin Perez struck out 10 batters and Avisail Garcia had 3 base hits as the
Oakland Athletics bested the Aarlington Aardvarks 2 to 1 at RingCentral
Coliseum.
Perez(4-6) looked very much in control throughout the night. He didn't give
up much, just 5 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings lowering his ERA from 3.75 to
3.51. Aarlington made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push
the needed runs across.
Aroldis Chapman recorded his 9th save. J.T. Brubaker(7-9) was tagged with the
loss. Joe Ingraffia was asked about the performance of Perez, 'He had his
good stuff out there tonight. The fans really get into it when the
strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.'
