Xander Bogaerts smashed 4 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Palatine Cubs were
badly beaten by the powerful Caracas Leones, 11 to 1.
Bogaerts had a great evening at the plate. He smashed a two-run homer in the
1st inning, delivered a solo blast in the 4th inning, lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' in the 5th inning and blasted a solo shot in the 6th inning.
Palatine was out-hit by Caracas, 15 hits to 2.
The victory was credited to Carlos Rodon(6-6) who went 5 innings, allowing 1
run. Kyle Hendricks(5-9) was charged with the loss. He served up 3 gopher
balls in 5 and 1/3 innings.
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Bogaerts said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and
not do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by
game, and pitch by pitch.'
