Jacob Degrom retired 11 batters on strikeouts and Shohei Ohtani cracked a
homer and had 4 RBI as the Aarlington Aardvarks defeated the Hollywood
Marines 7 to 1 at Aarlington Field.
Ohtani enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He clubbed a two-run home run in
the 3rd inning, lined a single in the 5th inning and doubled plating two runs
in the 8th inning. Aarlington out-hit Hollywood for the game, 14 hits to 9.
Degrom(2-0) went 6 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Michael Kopech
earned the save, his 2nd. Daniel Lynch(0-3) was given the loss. He was
knocked around by Aarlington, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3
innings.
When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Degrom offered, 'The fan's
really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up
there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it
would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
