In a dramatic ending, the Oakland Athletics staged a comeback win over the
floundering Dublin Pubcrawlers by the count of 5 to 4.
Oakland scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. Yadier Molina led off and he smacked a single. J.P.
Crawford stepped into the batter's box and he lined a one-base hit. One out
later, Christian Walker was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Ian
Happ was up next and he drew a walk to load the bases. Harold Castro stepped
into the box and doubled driving in two more baserunners. Myles Straw kept
things alive and reached on an error resulting in a mighty exciting win for
Oakland and the 139 home town fans in attendance. Dublin had 9 hits in the
game while Oakland had 5, but Oakland had the more timely hits.
The winning pitcher was Justin Steele(4-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. The loss was charged to Hansel Robles(2-4) in relief. 'Wow, that
was fun!', Steele said following the game. 'Once in a while you play a game
that reminds you just why you got into this business to begin with!'
