Max Scherzer struck out 10 batters and Yasmani Grandal knocked 2 homeruns and
had 4 RBI as the spectacular Vernon Hillbillies destroyed the Dyersville
Jurassics by a score of 10 to 0 at Jurassic Park.
Grandal was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 3rd
inning and smacked a three-run homer in the 7th inning. Vernon had 12 hits
for the night while Dyersville had 3.
The win was credited to Scherzer(10-1) who went 7 innings allowing no runs.
Anthony Desclafani(3-8) was tagged with the loss. He was touched for 4
homeruns in his 6 and 1/3 innings of work.
Jim Aldrich was impressed with Scherzer and his 10 strikeouts. 'It's tough to
generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'
