Evan Longoria added four ribbies to his seasonal total with one swing of the
bat as the Tombstone Huckleberries defeated the Woodfield Roadkyll by a score
of 12 to 11 at Englefield Green.
Longoria was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He smacked a single in the 5th inning,
caught a hold of a bad pitch for a Grand Slam homerun in the 7th inning and
hit a one-base hit in the 9th inning. Tombstone had 18 hits for the night
while Woodfield had 12.
The win was credited to Drew Smyly(3-1) who went 3 and 1/3 innings allowing 2
runs. Smyly got help from Craig Kimbrel who was credited with his 28th save.
The losing pitcher was Keegan Akin(2-4) in relief. He was hit hard and gave
up 7 hits and 3 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
Rafael Devers slammed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI but it wasn't enough for
Woodfield.
