In a thriling finish the Tampico Stogies pulled off the win over the New York
The Yanks by a score of 3 to 1 at Busch Stadium.
Tampico had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs on 2
hits. After an out was recorded, Pavin Smith initiated the scoring spurt
when he doubled. Josh Donaldson stepped into the batter's box and he blasted
a two-run home run making Tampico victorious to the delight of the the home
town crowd. New York was out-hit by Tampico, 11 hits to 4.
Juan Minaya(2-1) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.
Hunter Strickland(1-2) was given the loss in relief. Tampico now has a
record of 34-33. With the loss New York now has a record of 34-33.
