Designated hitter Shohei Ohtani launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at
Aarlington Field as the Caracas Leones lost a heartbreaker to Aarlington
Aardvarks by the score of 9 to 7.
Aarlington came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning plating 2 runs on
2 hits. Bradley Zimmer led off the inning for Aarlington when he banged out
a single. Nick Madrigal dug into the batters box next, but he struck out.
Ohtani then bombed a two-run dinger giving Aarlington the victory as 19,993
happy fans celebrated wildly. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5
different innings was still not enough for Caracas to come away with the
victory.
The winning pitcher was Michael Kopech(2-1) who allowed no runs in 3 and 2/3
innings. Domingo German(0-3) was hit with the loss in relief. He was knocked
around pretty good, giving up 3 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Fernando Tatis Jr cracked 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI but despite his efforts, it
wasn't enough to put Caracas over the top.
