Masahiro Tanaka came through with a solid 7 innings at Edsel Stadium as the
Chicago Colts beat the Gotham Gold Gloves by the count of 6 to 3.
Chicago brought 3 runs across the plate in the top of the 7th inning. Kevan
Smith led off and started the attack as he delivered a one-base hit. Kevin
Pillar came to the plate and banged out a single. After an out was recorded,
Yoan Moncada then drew a walk to load the bases. Charlie Blackmon was up
next and he hit a deep fly resulting in a run. D.J. Lemahieu came up to bat
and was walked intentionally to load the bases. Jedd Gyorko kept the rally
going and reached on an error as two more runners crossed the plate. Gotham
had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The winning pitcher was Tanaka(10-10) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Richard
Bleier recorded his 1st save. Framber Valdez(11-11) absorbed the loss. He
surrendered 8 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings.
