In a thriling finish the Vernon Hillbillies pulled off the win over the
hapless Tombstone Huckleberries by a score of 6 to 5 at Long Grove
CG.
Vernon won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Garrett
Hampson drew a walk. Two outs later Justin Turner stepped in and he stroked
a base-hit giving Vernon the victory as 5,871 happy fans celebrated wildly.
Tombstone had 9 hits in the game while Vernon had 6, but Vernon had the more
timely hits.
The victory was credited to Raisel Iglesias(4-5) who went 1 inning, allowing
no runs. Giovanny Gallegos(4-7) absorbed the loss in relief.
