Justin Dunn dominated striking out 11 Vernon batters at The Heffadrome as the
Holland Heffalumps beat the Vernon Hillbillies 14 to 5.
The Holland fans enjoyed the offense provided by Randy Arozarena. He clubbed
a two-run home run in the 3rd inning, stroked a single in the 5th inning and
doubled which was good for two runs in the 6th inning. Holland finished with
15 hits while Vernon ended up with 8.
Dunn(6-9) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 7 innings. The losing
pitcher was Zach Eflin(4-16). He was touched for 4 homeruns in his 5 and 1/3
innings of work.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Dunn - except Vernon. John
Stryker lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight. He was keeping our guys off
balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun
game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
