Phillip Evans slammed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Austin Gomber went 3 solid
innings as the Hollywood Marines defeated the Gotham Gold Gloves in 11
innings by the score of 8 to 6 at Comerica Park.
The score was knotted at 5 after nine innings. Finally, Hollywood pulled the
game out in the 11th inning. Kyle Farmer initiated the scoring spurt when he
laced a base-knock. After another out, Victor Reyes got his turn next, but
he was a strikeout victim. Evans then lofted a three-run bomb making
Hollywood the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. Overall
Hollywood out-hit Gotham 14 to 11.
The victory went to Tommy Hunter(6-5) who went 1 inning, allowing 1 run.
Framber Valdez(9-9) was charged with the loss. He gave up 14 hits and 1 walk
in 10 and 2/3 innings.
'Actually, I didn't feel that comfortable at the plate tonight' Evans said
after the game. 'Despite that, I'm happy with the results!
