9,468 fans watched an exciting game at West Side Park. The Chicago Colts
topped the Streator Reds by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
Yency Almonte(5-1) was the winning pitcher in relief. He went 2 and 1/3
innings allowing 2 hits and 1 walk. Streator had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.
Mark Melancon recorded the save, his 13th. Blake Treinen(3-4) was tagged with
the loss in relief. Despite losing Ralph Madara was optimistic after the
game. 'We'll get over this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way,
sometimes they don't. Any one of a dozen little things go different, and we
come out on top.'
