In a good matchup it was the Vernon Hillbillies 5, the Hollywood Marines 2 in
10 innings at Comerica Park.
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Vernon won the game in the 10th
inning. After two outs Ramon Laureano keyed the rally when he slapped a
base-hit scoring a run. Laureano took second on the throw. Jake Marisnick
stepped into the batter's box and he was walked intentionally. Justin Turner
then doubled driving home another two teammates. Vernon finished with just 6
hits in the victory.
The win was credited to Freddy Peralta(4-0) who went 2 and 1/3 innings
allowing 1 run. Zack Britton recorded the save, his 4th. The loss was
charged to Liam Hendriks(7-3) in relief. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching
1 and 1/3 innings and not allowing an earned run.
