Right fielder Christian Yelich had 2 base hits and Andrew Heaney retired 10
batters on strikeouts as the Columbus Crowd defeated the Tampico Stogies by
the score of 6 to 3 at The Horseshoe.
Heaney(5-3) gave a fine effort for Columbus. He allowed 5 hits and 2 walks in
6 innings. Columbus finished with 11 hits while Tampico ended up with 6.
Ariel Jurado(2-6) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around pretty
good, giving up 6 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. When asked about his strikeout
total for the game, Heaney offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun
to see them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands.
Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it would be all for naught
without the 'W'.'
