Charlie Morton struck out 10 batters and left fielder Mike Tauchman launched 2
homeruns and had 5 RBI at Aarlington Field as the San Ybel Islanders belted
the Aarlington Aardvarks by the count of 15 to 0.
Tauchman was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 7th
inning and lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 9th inning.
San Ybel bats were very productive in the 7th inning which saw them score 8
runs on 7 hits and the 9th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits. San
Ybel had 15 hits for the game and Aarlington had 5.
Morton(11-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing no
runs. Mike Clevinger(8-2) suffered the loss. He struck out 10 batters in 6
innings despite losing the game.
Morton was asked about his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd
when you rack up these numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running
tally in the stands, everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange -
but it's nice to be able to take the crowd out of the game.'
