Jose Berrios had an impressive outing at The O.K. Corral where the San Ybel
Islanders beat the Tombstone Huckleberries 3 to 1.
San Ybel had 2 runs cross the plate in the top of the 3rd inning. Freddy
Galvis started the inning off right when he smacked a single. After an out
was recorded, Zack Greinke then uncorked a pitch that was ruled a passed
ball. David Fletcher then doubled knocking in a run. Greinke then uncorked
a wild one that found its way to the backstop. Alex Bregman came up to bat
and hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. That early run
support was enough for Berrios(9-8) and San Ybel. Tombstone made it exciting
in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Berrios got help from Emilio Pagan who earned his 12th save. Greinke(8-8)
took the loss. Doug Salzwedel was in a contemplative mood after the tough
loss, 'It is really hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to
some, but it is easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones
that just barely get away that hurt so much - like this one!'
