Aaron Nola struck out 12 batters at West Side Park as the Dyersville Jurassics
beat the Chicago Colts by the count of 7 to 5.
Teoscar Hernandez provided the offensive punch. He launched a three-run homer
in the 2nd inning, banged out a single bringing in two baserunners in the 5th
inning and stroked a one-base hit in the 7th inning. Chicago made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Nola(1-7) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Nola got help from
Sergio Romo who was credited with his 12th save. Jordan Lyles(2-6) was the
losing pitcher. He was touched for 9 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings.
Nola didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had
12 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent
total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good,
isn't it?'
