Matt Boyd dominated striking out 11 Hollywood batters at Comerica Park where
the Oakland Athletics beat the Hollywood Marines 2 to 1.
Boyd(3-3) looked very much in control throughout the night. He surrendered
only 6 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. The game was a scoreless duel until the
7th inning.
Yimi Garcia earned his 4th save. Mike Soroka(4-4) was charged with the loss.
He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 7 innings and not allowing an earned run.
Brian Anderson was impressed with Boyd and his 11 strikeouts. 'It's tough to
generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'
