Shortstop Carlos Correa hit a homerun and Justin Verlander whiffed 10 batters
as the Dublin Pubcrawlers topped the Oakland Athletics by a score of 2 to 1
at Chase Field.
Verlander(5-2) earned his pay with a solid performance for Dublin. He
surrendered 5 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. Verlander was helped out by
Brandon Workman who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 7th save.
Yimi Garcia(1-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. Verlander was jubilant in
the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there. The fans gave me a
lot of support as did my teammates. We got the victory and I'll sure take 10
strikeouts anytime!'
